Time for 09

Sorry for the late greeting 2009, but just know we've been ready since 2008. The January and February of 2009 have been jam-packed with much fun for us TYR members. We have successfully started an after-school program at Amistad Academy Elm City High School (AAECHS) since late November of 2008 called Amistad City. In this program we've enrolled and have been training up to twenty members including veterans from Amistad Academy Middle School (AAMS). Operating an hour and a half after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, have fun enhancing their talents in the Arts, specifically: Poetry, Spoken Word, Music Performance (R&B, Rap, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, etc...) and much more. With help from AAECHS, Yale Student Raphael Magarik, and WORD, members love coming staying after school for the Amistad City program.
On a more serious note, we have a solid selection of member who have teamed up to make TYR the best it can possibly be. In February of 2009 at TYR's Annual Monthly Breakdown Meeting, (Mariah Ortiz), (Ibrahim AbdulQuaiyy), and 4ReAl met overlooking the past, present, and future of TYR. As young members of a youth organization, being only high school students, and living in a world changing due to a falling economy, these three could not just look at the world from a child's eyes, but through the pupils of educated professional's.
"They're taking money out of the youth, yet attempt plan for the future." 4ReAl states, "We need to anticipate a rough year." Arguments and statements went back and forth throughout the meeting about the job the city is doing to "improve" New Haven.
"We have reached a point in time where the only thing that could save us is ourselves. You call it human evolution, I say the youth revolution." (IBRAHIM)
"The city is just adding more problems for youth to deal with." (MARIAH)
We'll keep you posted on what is to come in our solution to this problem, but here is a question for you. Do you think that the government is doing a good job in taking care if New Haven.
